A little about Barb:
Barb has lived in St. Louis her whole life. She is currently single and living in south St. Louis county with her two cats. Barb comes from a large family with lots of nieces and nephews, whom she loves dearly.
For the past 29 years, Barb has worked as a nurse at BJC (Barnes-Jewish Health Care). While working for BJC, she has had several responsibilities including: floor nurse, Oncology, home health care, home health management, cardiology research and is currently working as a certified diabetes nurse educator.
For as long as Barb can remember, she has always loved glass. While she was growing up she loved little glass animals, and currently has a collection of glass candies, hearts, candy canes and a chile pepper! Barb started working with glass by making jewelry using crystals and furnace glass. She really loved furnace glass and always wanted to learn how to make it. One day, one of her secretaries (Betty) wore a piece of jewelry containing glass beads she had made at a class. Right then Barb new that was it!
She immediately called Glasshopper Studio and started taking lampworking classes. Betty no longer makes beads, but Barb often thanks her for helping her discover glass beadmaking. Even though Barb still feels like a novice, she's keep pushing herself and is gradually learning things in her way.
Barb hasn't yet sold any of her work, but hopes to in the very near future. Her dream is to have a bed and breakfast bead studio...once she wins the Powerball jackpot!
